A laptop that won't charge feels like a disaster, but half the cases we see are fixed without opening the machine. Work through these checks in order — they take ten minutes — and you'll know whether it's a simple fix or time to call a technician.
Unplug the adapter from both the wall and the laptop, wait thirty seconds, and reconnect firmly. Try a different wall socket — extension boards with loose contacts cause more 'dead laptop' panic than any real fault. If the adapter brick has an LED, check whether it lights; no light with a known-good socket points at the adapter, not the laptop.
Also inspect the cable for kinks and the connector for wobble. A charging port that only works when you hold the cable at an angle is a physical port fault — usable short-term, but it needs a proper fix before it damages the board.
The exact message narrows it down fast:
Shut down fully, unplug everything including USB devices, and if the battery is removable, take it out for a minute. Hold the power button down for 15–20 seconds, reconnect, and boot. This clears stuck charge circuitry and resolves a surprising number of cases.
For sealed-battery laptops, the same idea works via the reset pinhole (check your manual) or by holding power for 30 seconds while unplugged.
Call when the port is physically loose, the laptop heats up while charging, charging is intermittent no matter the adapter, or the machine is dead on all power sources — those point at the charging circuit or motherboard, which need chip-level diagnosis.
Our battery replacements use genuine-grade batteries from Rs. 1,000 fitted the same day at your home, motherboard faults start with a free assessment before any charge, and if it genuinely can't be fixed the repair itself costs nothing. Diagnosis is always on-site with a fixed quote first.
